I worked in that office a few years ago and the shooter was my after work drinking buddy. Crazy that this happened. He had a wife and a little girl a few years ago too

quote:
Firearm—In 2013, 33,636 persons died from firearm injuries in the United States (Tables 18 and 19), accounting for 17.4% of all injury deaths in that year. The age-adjusted death rate from firearm injuries (all intents) did not change significantly in 2013 from 2012. The two major component causes of firearm injury deaths in 2013 were suicide (63.0%) and homicide (33.3%). The age-adjusted death rate for firearm homicide decreased 5.3%, from 3.8 in 2012 to 3.6 in 2013. The rate for firearm suicide did not change significantly.
LINK
so 100-63 = 37
.37 x 33636 = 12,445 non suicide deaths by firearm in 2013
quote:
In 2013, motor-vehicle traffic-related injuries resulted in 33,804 deaths, accounting for 17.5% of all injury deaths (Table 18). The age-adjusted death rate for these injuries decreased significantly, 3.7%, from 10.9 per 100,000 standard population in 2012 to 10.5 in 2013.
motor vehicle suicide is VERY rare. Assuming even a generous 5% motor vehicle death rate related to suicide, that means at least 32,195 died of non suicide related motor vehicle causes.
32,195 > 12,445
and that is not even looking into the word "owners" where many of the homicide deaths with firearms are from persons already illegally possessing a weapon and not legal owners.

Honest question....
Was he an a-hole?
Meaning certainly you couldn't see this, but the guy could make a major dick move from time to time?

Which kind of reiterates my point that there are more guns than responsible owners, right?
Just to be clear, I enjoy shooting. I go to the skeet range fairly regularly. I just don't know if every Joe on the street is qualified to carry a gun- this story is a good example.

Like I mentioned earlier, but this got into a gun debate. We just had a quadruple murder if you include the suicide here in Katy.
You couldn't see a more normal looking family. The guys Facebook was still up for days after shooting. Craziness.

I know this might not be a good time for this
but all of my OT'ers who deal in transportation know these guys are wayyy over priced and I can almost guarantee this was a truck driver or a freight broker who got pissed off and walked in there

Well considering I am but one owner and I have multiple firearms, that is a pretty easy statement to make.

This undermines your point. you don't know if this guy was ever legally qualified to purchase or possess a firearm but you are making statements implying that there should be stricter control of who has access. Making more laws/regulations to prevent persons already circumventing the laws will do nothing other than deter law abiding citizens from protecting themselves.

He was a little high strung but looking at people posting on Facebook makes it look like he was a victim of a shooter. I'm confused as far as if he was the guy that shot it up or not.
He was always cool with me though

So you are trying to say a guy fired from a transportation company was either a driver or worked in the office.. Thanks
