That's not true. Some make more than certain engineers but on a national average the pay for an engineer over an entire career is more and especially when you look at pay per hour. 12 hour shifts more than 3-4 days per week is miserable. Maybe you're talking about engineers on the downstream or midstream side. Everyone knows the real money at any position engineer or operator is working upstream and offshore.
