I don't see us going to completely autonomous for quite some time, maybe 35 to 50 years. If an eighteen wheeler did have some kind of glitch in the software, all of a sudden you have a missile heading down the road with a huge potential for catastrophic damage. And that's to say nothing of whether these autonomous systems would be vulnerable to hacking.

In short, they will need human oversight and manual override for quite some time into the future, so computers aren't taking our jobs....

Yet.
