Oh yeah, by any fricking radical group trying to push their agenda. Communists did it in Russia after the Tzar was ousted. Hitler did it when he became dictator. Mao did it after he came to power. fricking ISIS is doing it to this day.
They always try and completely get rid of the past by destroying any monuments or statues, they quit talking about it in public, stop teaching it in schools, they act as if it never happened.
I'm not necessarily saying that the left wing kooks are on the same range as the previously stated factions. But there are similarities.

At what point did we ever try and erase King George from memory? We could've easily said that he was a black mark on the nation's history and we don't need to let anybody learn about him. No, the founding fathers knew the importance of history.
Another thing, Lee Circle was erected not even a generation after the Civil War. Putting up a statue of King George now would make no sense and I honestly don't know where you're going with this.
