If you wanna be an operator you better have a PTEC degree or be a son, or son in law of somebody.

Wait... isn’t it the other way around? They are slashing oil prices. Therefore oil and gas are cheaper. Therefore Karen then gets a second Tahoe...

This is going to backfire on them bigly. Russia and USA finna become allies to take them out.

Russia spurred this by refusing recent cut proposals and Russia and SA should be more aligned to take down US unconventional E&Ps.

I'm assuming oilfield baws saved 50% of their paycheck during all the good years, so they should be fine during this short term downturn.

Have you seen how these people live ha ha

I'm friends with one - In the last two years his (unemployed) wife has gone from a Range Rver Sport to an Escalade just because. Ole baw driving a 2020 dually, boats that sit in the yard never used on and on and on.

PTEC degree is very easy.
But, you won't just waltz into an operator job with one. Still need lots of luck. You're not the only one with the idea to become an operator.

Low gas prices are good for the entire country minus Louisiana. We finna eat non-LA baws!

Ain't good at all for petrochemical plants here in the U.S. They are based on our cheaper than dirt NGL's as feedstock instead of oil derived naphtha from refineries as elsewhere in the world.

Oil ain't just for fuel.

Just because we aren't importing their oil right now doesnt mean much if they drive the price down. Lower prices means at some point it is cheaper to buy from them vs drilling our own oil. Not hard to figure out. Production will slow here and unprofitable sites will be closed = Louisiana people out of work

This is why, though I fancy myself a libertarian, I'm a bit of a protectionist. I'm a libertarian only domestically. When it comes to international trade and political relations, I'm an isolationist/nationalist/protectionist.

Other countries don't play by the same rules as we do so we cant extend our political philosophy to the rest of the world.

Sad

I feel for the workers but people that put all their eggs in one basket know the dangerous game they're playing and deserve what they get. The petrochemical industry and especially the State of Louisiana wants to lean hard on the wall, they better hope that wall stays standing.

Maybe this will teach them to stand on their own two feet.

You want artificially high oil prices which affect energy costs for all Americans just to protect some oilfield jobs?

Oh, okay, then. From now on all posts to be from the perspective of oil-industry workers, as the predominant workforce in the US.
