If your directv goes out, sometimes you can switch your channel guide to show the SD version of the HD channels and those will still work
The signal is a little more broad and picks up better in a storm.

You do realize in order to provide you with service the have to send a beamy he size of a .22 bullet thousands of miles into outer space and back right? If they can't see outer space, how can they provide service? Don't like rain fade? Stick with cable

My cable package kills anything DTV or Dish can offer. Comcast Xfinity in Houston is the best cable/satellite service I've ever used. The X1 entertainment center is great. Awesome interface and easy to use. Everything just simply works the way it's supposed to and that's just not always the case with most tv service providers.

You're not paying a flat rate for electricity or water, you're billed according to usage. Maybe you should ask them if you could obtain satellite by the minute and look more poor than you already do by having satellite.
