Some of these people have ancestors that were Spanish and mixed with Indian tribes that lived in what is now South Texas. They were only Mexican in the sense that Mexico ruled Texas for a time.
San Antonio does get a lot of Mexicans moving over here, but a lot of them are wealthy Mexicans from Northern Mexico moving to the NW side or Stoned Oak.
Saint Mary's Hall is the wealthy school in town and it is 55% white non hispanic. It feels a lot whiter though. It is also better than any school in Louisiana.

Stay away from Alamo Heights, those folks are ridiculous.
What does this mean? It's arguably the most desirable part of the city.

If you didn’t go to Alamo Heights or lived in the “08” you weren’t accepted. We did a handful of house renovations, including being neighbors with some awesome people, we immediately decided to leave because the majority of the neighborhood didn’t care for people not “a part of the neighborhood”. Note this was early 2000s so it might be significantly different now. I would never send my child to Alamo Heights high school though.
