How much did this run you man? If you don't mind my asking. And how much/what kind of experience is needed to operate one of those. I've been looking for ideas for a getaway too.

I always wonder what the captain does while you and mrs are consumating the marriage. Sailboats are pretty tight quarters so is it assumed he gets a ride when you're done?

the Pamela Anderson sex tape was shot on a boat on their honeymoon. Maybe the captain will hold the camera

that does look awesome.. Would probably need to get at least 4 couples together to make that more affordable. I am jealous of that for sure. I will probably end up going on a sailboat with captain until I learn sailing. Then maybe go back with a large group on an 8 person boat.

For this trip I would think the word "affordable" needs to be forgotten.

Nothing like a 75 sq ft honeymoon with your wife and another dude.

I would be think 10-12k minimum for a week going by these sites.

We are staying the night on St Thomas the first night down there and the last night down there and we have 7 Nights on the boat. I wanna say the boat alone ended up being a little over 9K for the entire group. So with 4 couples your looking at a little over 2K for the boat per.

Then you gotta add in Gas, food, hotel rooms (for the 2 nights), and of course fricking plane tickets. So it's for sure not cheap but it's gonna be one hell of a time.

Experience wise not exactly sure I'm not the "Captain".
But I know we went with a power boat cause a sailboat of the same size we would have to take a Capt out for an entire day and show we know how to do it all.

With this we just have to take a guy up and down a short passage (says it takes like an hour total) before we can head off on our own.

And this is our Captains first time doing this on his own so not too much experience is needed i guess haha

I'm planning on chartering a boat with at least a captain to sail it. I would like to learn sailing basics while on trip as well.

That actually sounds pretty cool. Are you talking just a few days or the whole honeymoon?

I've done it twice. Once out of Miami for 10 days to Bahamas. We hired a captain. Boat was 48 ft. and we had a total of 7 people on it. It came fully provisioned. It can be work but worth it. Another time we went out of St. Thomas for 10 days in Virgin Islands. OMG. Awesome. There were 6 of us on a 38 ft. Did some diving and had the best trip of my entire life. This boat also came fully provisioned. We would have to get water and some supplies when we stopped on Islands. I would recommend hiring a Captain and it's always more fun with a few people, not just two.

Wow.. sounds like fun, but I would get my own boat because those prices are well out of my reach.

We rented a catamaran and lived on that for a week in the BVI's...one of my favorite vacations ever!! We scuba dived a few times a day and sailed to different locations for each dive. We also went wake boarding and water skiing in our free time.

It was a blast, and I would highly recommend it!

Our boat

ETA it's a 55' boat, so probably too big for two people. We had the whole family (5 people) plus the captain and his wife who cooked.

I just sailed the British Virgin Islands with 6 friends on the same boat, we an incredible time. Do yourself a favor and hire a captain and hostess, we definitely didn't regret it.

I'll be doing the same on May 30th from St John to Jost. Just a day trip to see a guy named Vinny about some special caramels he makes.
