I guess this is very different however since it is a long range remote controlled nuclear torpedo.

True, supercavitation has been around for a long time. However, steering the damn thing within the bubble is the main problem.

At some point there will some rogue nation trying to end Earth as we know it.

We need to nuke everyone before it's too late

I'm no submarine expert either. I think to be effective though, any countermeasure to this thing would have to actually stop it in it's tracks and hopefully also stop it from detonating.

I say this because it sounds to me like this torpedo is an "area weapon". By that I mean it sounds like this thing does not really have to hit a precise target such as a ship. Rather it simply has to get close to the harbor of city (like New Orleans for example) where it can be detonated. The explosion itself would either sink or damage nearby ships that could possible block traffic into that port. But even worse than this would be the radiation from the blast that would make the port and probably the whole city uninhabitable for decades.

Another thing to consider is the tsunami that would be created by such a weapon being detonated close to a major port city. According to the story this thing would have a 100 mega-ton warhead. That's twice as powerful as the "Tsar Bomb" which is still today the most powerful bomb ever built. To give you an idea of the size of the Tsar Bomb compared to other bombs that have been tested, look at this graph showing the kiloton yield from some of the most powerful bombs ever tested ....



and this thing, if it's real and it actually works, would be about twice as powerful.
