You go as slow as you can while still moving the weight smoothly. You want to fail at 45 seconds to 1:30. Once you get to 1:30, increase the weights. Only one set per workout. I did the big 5 for a while then switched to split routines. Now I am doing the big 5 plus a couple but with dumb bells. It's pretty intense with the dumb bells.

Do you do this at a gym? I might need to find a place that let's me pay per workout to make it worth my while.

Yeah. I have gyms at my work and apartment. With only 3 or 4 workouts per month it really feels not worth it to pay for gym membership...
