The Dr. was at his best performing in small groups. He was more relaxed and funny to be around
I went to a benefit concert for his nephew (my cousin) after Gary had a stroke.
I was with Gary's daughter at FQF. Some lady wanted Mac's autograph and Danielle was her best chance at getting it. Well, when D asked him, he said "I don't have time for that shite." So the lady asked D for her autograph. So D wrote his quote and signed the lady's book on NOLA musicians "Dr. John's niece"
ONLY in NOLA. The Night Tripper was truly a trip.
(D is also a cousin if you can't figure out how the family tree thing works... being a Southern Miss fan and all)
