Richland Parish church fire connected to incident at Caldwell High

RICHLAND PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Update: 3:10 PM - Richland Parish church fire is connected to an incident at Caldwell High. Authorities say the same person is suspected of a church fire at St. Paul Baptist Church and using a truck to damage some vehicles at Caldwell Parish High School.

According to a family member of a school employee, Caldwell Parish High School was put on lockdown after the incident took place. The suspect is in custody.

Update: 2:10 PM - A law enforcement officer says they have someone in custody. No other details were given.

Update: 12:45 PM - The church just celebrated their 137 anniversary. It's their new building which caught fire. That building has been destroyed. Their old building is okay. The fire is under control, but firefighters are still working to put it out. The fire marshal and police are investigating. An arson K-9 unit is on the scene, but investigators will need to wait for the area to cool down before letting the dog out.
