Repair Question for my Generac ix 2000

Had trouble getting it started but after finally getting it working, the damn pull cord popped out. These things are so damn compact and can cause headaches in a hurry. Does anyone know what steps I need to take to fix this at home?

You would probably get more responses if you post this on the Outdoor Board. Most people posting in the OT are idiots, present company included.

Also, suggest the Home/Garden Board.

I replaced a pull cord and it was a massive pain in the arse. And I am pretty mechanically inclined.
IF you can buy the pull cord assembly as a replacement part, I have no idea of the set up of your model generator, then do that. Bolting on a replacement assembly is usually ten minutes of turning bolts. Replacing the cord, getting the spring to the proper tension, having the spring jump out of the assembly two or three times before you get it bolted back and then getting the cover back on can take hours.

If the spring is not broken there is no need to remove spool from housing. Remove the assembly ( usually three bolts or nuts ) Remove old rope, wnd spring, hold tension, replace rope.

And that is where the cursing starts. Like I said, if you aren't mechanically inclined it is better to buy the assembly.

We have it changed out. Now is the hard part where we have to put all the shite back together. Not the easiest fix for sure. Sorry for wrong board btw. Been a crazy 3 days here in Morgan City. I'm still without power at my house.

Holding tension is a matter of squeezing the spool between your thumb and forefinger.

OK there Mr. Fix It...
It's the easiest fix in the world OP, a child could do it. That guy says so. Have fun.

You don't know what the frick you are talking about. That dude that won't let it go says it is a simple matter of squeezing it with your thumb and forefinger. The rest of us are stupid.

I don’t know whether you are stupid or not but I can definitely say you sound like an arsehole. Just trying to help the man. Cut the negative vibes.
You sound like the Bagel Midget.
