Refrigerator question - paging Napoleon

Napolean,

I have a GE side by side. When the ice maker is on, the thingy that you can get water out of in the door leaks. When the ice maker is off, it doesn't. Help.

Sounds like a bad water inlet valve.

Water dispenser valve stuck partially open.
There are 3 valves.
Water in then to filter

Then filter in to icemaker or dispenser.
When the ice maker is off and you don't ask for water, the primary solenoid is closed, keeping the water from coming out, when the icemaker comes on, it turns on the solenoid pressurizing the water in the reservoir.

Water coming out a dispenser can only be two things. A sticking solenoid or a sticking dispenser switch. Since your problem only comes up when the ice maker is on I'd go in expecting to change the water valve solenoid.
