For all the unbelievers -- you better hope you're right. LMAO
2/3 of the world's population believes in something different, but by golly you better believe in our religion - the correct religion btw - or you're going to burn in hell.

quote: Heaven is real. God is real. Enough said. Proof?
He spoke to me while I was sitting alone on the edge of my bed.
Changed my life for the better. He healed conflict between myself and my parents, transformed my attitude towards others, took away my destructive patterns of behavior, and has guided me on every large and small decision over the last 12 years of my life.
I grew up as a Christian my whole life, but was the type of Christian that you would not like. I judged everybody and had no ability to forgive those that hurt me.
All different now. After my encounter, it took me about 4 years to find a church that understood what happened to me. Been serving God ever since.
Proof?
This changed life.

Tell ya what, you worship your science, I'll stick to my God and when we both die, we will see who's right. I'm good knowing that if my God isn't real then I've lived a life trying to live right by good principles taught through the Bible. However, if your wrong, the price you'll pay is a steep one. Maybe science can also help you then. One day though, every knee will bow to the name of Jesus. Poke fun if you want. That's all on you. I'll pray for ya!

Tell ya what, next time you have a medical emergency, pray to Jesus. I'll go to the temple of science.
I'm going to live my life as a good person. If your God is real, hopefully he'll understand why I had my doubts in his existence. Surely he won't punish 2/3rds of the worlds population for believing in something different.
I just hope I get the NT God. OT God was a dick.

Awesome. You don't need the Bible or fear of hell to be a good person. If anything......

Actually one time he drowned the entire world for not following his ways. But you got it brotha.

You would think someone/something that is all powerful, all knowing and full of love would have at least a modicum of understanding.
"Live in the northern reaches of China and never heard of me? Doesn't matter. Dead. Live in the southern tip of South America and never heard of me? Doesn't matter. Dead."
Sounds like an awesome god.

No he understood what he was doing and why he did it. And there wasn't any of them that he hadn't heard of. That's a silly statement. He created them. He knows you too, and he wants to spend eternity with you. But that's your choice.

quote:God works in mysterious ways, right? God loved his children so much that he drowned all of them.
No he understood what he was doing and why he did it.
quote:You misunderstood what I said. I was speaking in the voice of God. All these millions of people from all around the world that had never heard of the one God are drowned to death because... why? For not following the ways of a God they had never heard of?
And there wasn't any of them that he hadn't heard of. That's a silly statement. He created them.
Makes perfect sense.
ETA: Let's reverse the tables for a second. Let's say that the true God and actual creator of the universe is a God worshiped by a small Nepalese tribe that very few people have heard of. Your first encounter with this God is when he floods the entire world, killing you and your entire family. Women, children, pets, everyone. Your second encounter with this God is when you get brought up to the podium for judgment. He condemns you to eternal damnation for worshiping a false god and for not following his ways. Does that God sound just, loving and reasonable to you?
Doesn't make any sense to me.
I am going to live my life as a good person without worshiping any one particular deity, and on the off chance that there is a deity, an afterlife and a judgment, hope that deity understands why I had doubts.

So basically you make up your own little way for you to get to heaven, even though it's written out pretty clear in the bible what you have to do to have eternal life. Obviously you believe in eternal life because you're keeping that possibility open with "living a good life just in case". But God doesn't make sense to you so why even bother? We all wake up one day man. Well, hopefully at least. It'll never make sense to you if you keep fighting it through. Hope it all works out for you man.

You ignore the most important part of my post?
ETA: And yes, I believe that an afterlife is possible. I just don't know which of the hundreds of religions since the dawn of time is right, if any.

Got ya. Well, good luck with that. Huge risk in my opinion.
Posted on 4/5/16 at 11:48 am to ValentiTiger
You're not taking a huge risk by picking Christianity and ignoring all other religions?
Posted on 4/5/16 at 1:57 pm to StrongBackWeakMind
No. It's the only way man. All the other religions are taking a huge risk though.
Posted on 4/5/16 at 3:34 pm to ValentiTiger
The "I was raised in Christianity so it must be the correct religion" mindset is just baffling to me. Not even the slightest consideration that one of the other religions might be the correct one?
You're a Christian because your parents and grandparents and great grandparents were Christian and were never really exposed to another religion until it's too late, but you're 100% certain that your religion is the correct one. That guy over in India who is a Hindu because his parents and grandparents and great grandparents were Hindu, tough luck buddy. Enjoy eternal hell.

Annnnnnd you're wrong here. I'm Christian because at the age of 33 I accepted Jesus as my savior. We never went to church as a kid. My mom just started attending church and my dad did a little before he passed 4 years ago. Now my kids are being raised as Christians so they can have eternal life as well.
