yea i don't think i ever would even before this but this is exactly the kind of thing my dad would go for; something fancy that people think is cool

seems pretty apparent to me it would be a pain in the arse expecially when you have 4 right next to each other

ETA: We literally have a remote control smoker, which i actually think is super badass

Problem number 2 is bc of the proximity of the 4 fans to each other the remotes are working several fans at once

fault of the installer, each remote and controll unit has four switches that give you many combinations of signals.

simple fix

Only way to know for sure on problem one is to apply 120v to black wire from fan (after remote) to see if it's not a problem with the remote or the controller. If the light works with the controller bypassed then you know it's a bad controller and or remote.

To test the controllers you need to be able to test continuity. You should be able to switch on and off continuity between the black and black wires and the black and blue on the controller by hitting the fan or light buttons. The white wire should always have continuity.

The second problem is a simple fix, the first problem will take a decent understanding of electronics to figure out.

there are switches in the remote where the batteries go as well as switches on the control unit. You can change the four switches to any combination you want.

yeah after doing a small bit of research ive figured out problem two, real easy

im a decently good amateur electrician so im pretty sure i can do what you are saying given a little time once its daylight again. Only problem is im not familiar with the wiring so don't know if there is a seperate breaker panel with addition or if it's with the house. Guess i can look then just turn off everything

also somehow managed to find the fan from the huge list of manuals from the link ITT so im gonna do a couple of the troubleshoot suggestions from it, dont expect much success from that one

thank you very much

come on man, I'm 72 and got hooked on TD while working in Argentina back in late 2006 - in those 10 years I have learned - to frick google and go straight to the OT lounge for info and how to score with after closing time #4's IRL. Wise your ole man up. He should be the one axing about a Harbor Breeze fan - BTW - the most expensive Hunter is the go to brand for OT'ers.

Behind the batteries there should be a few buttons like 4. You should switch be able to move them up or down. So for fan 1 punch the first button down. For fan 2 push the second button down and so forth. That way each fan is on a separate frequency.

The electrician who wired my new house told me the same thing. After I'd already bought my fans. 4 are remote control. Two of the remotes failed within 4 months. I had to cut the remote control box out of the fans (Hunter). So yes, I'll agree with you.

Idk if already stated but the remote and the dip switches on the control module that is in the base of the fan needs to both be programmed so that each remote and fan has its own code ....

That if true on most but apparently on the newer ones you aren't supposed to have to touch the dipswitches on the actual fan (hell they may not even have them)
