PROBLEM SOLVED...problem w/ clothes washer not spinning. Appreciate suggestion....

I found the problem. It's with the door not closing properly. Don't know what it's called but there is a plastic thingy with a pointed end that when the door closes it presses down and engages the spin cycle. I've sort of fixed it with duct tape but if anyone knows what that thingy is called I can try and find a replacement part.
Thanks for all responses...serious and non-serious.

My clothes washer is 40 years old. It is a Kenmore, Serial # C13007059, Model # 110-82172800, Stock # 21728. For all these many years it has worked well. I put a load in this morning and when it finished the clothes was sopping wet. I ran another cycle and the spin cycle did not run.
I know from this board that the older generation Kenmore washer and dryers have worked very well for a very long time.
Suggestions please: because of it's age should I call a Sears repairman out or just give up the ghost and buy a new washer.
I thank you for any and all suggestions. And if this is not the right forum for my request, please let me know where I should post it. Thanks, much.

Make sure the belt did not break or pop off. If you need a replacement, there should be a part number on the belt that you can type directly into Amazon or internet search for buying options.

I removed the lid switch all together in mine. I’ve also had problems when the load is out of balance.
(Makes a racket though when out of balance)

It’s called a lid switch.
Should be about $10 on Amazon.
YouTube will show you some videos on replacing the lid switch.
Took me about 30 minutes to change mine.
