To the OP, I had worse punishments than those in public school in the late 70’s early 80’s at Stonewall Elementary.

Brother is six years older than me:
Nuns at the Catholic school used to rap their knuckles with a ruler and make them kneel on rice. Suffice it to say, they probably were threatened with getting paddled.

Catholic School in the 60’s: Ms. Mollere, 3rd grade lay teacher. would take the kid down the hall to the bathroom and spank.You could here it while you sat in class. Scary and very effective.
