Solid political commentary but the good parts of Chicago are nicer and safer than anywhere in Nola. It's a great city for middle class people, especially two income households. The winters are brutal though.

Sounds like she lives in Boystown (the gay hub of Chicago, just south of wrigleyville). I know a bit of the Lincoln park area and the Gold Coast. Lincoln park has a bit more of a college feel because of DePaul. I know someone who payed 1900 to split an apartment in the Gold Coast but for being in a major city, that place was freakishly clean and quiet.
