I'm trying to replace the spider gasket on a Hayward Multi-Port valve (for a pool filter), but the entire thing is cemented on. I am not having luck getting it off with a flathead screwdriver. The housing is plastic, so I can't be too rough with it.

Any tips from the OT?

I was thinking about going to the hardware store and see what kind of dissolvers they have and to get something with a razor blade.

Hair driver on high, or heat gun on low.

Soak it with WD40 and see if it softens up. A heat gun might also work but, be careful.

Maybe some Raid Bug Spray might loosen it up?

Scrape it out, it should be replaced with new gasket. Apply contact cement to both pieces, wait 5 minutes and put in place. Good luck!
