Pictures not posting in thread

I haven’t posted pics in a thread in a good while, and apparently I have forgotten how to do so. I’ve tried uploading pics from google, instagram, imgur, no luck. When I copy and paste the link from the picture into the img box, and go to preview it, all that shows is a little grey empty box. What am I missing here?
