One of the more prominent billboard lawyers lived in my subdivision when he was a kid; he was a complete turd, but he apparently gets it done these days.

Its absolutely the easiest area of law, particularly in Louisiana with the current system. If you are a poor PI attorney in Louisiana you are probably retarded. Its one of the premier industries of this amazingly pathetic State. Its also what you do when you come out of law school lacking options. I know quite a few MB and GM ex-pats and they all say the same thing - Couldn't find a job right out of school and needed something quick. Hung for 1-2 years until they could land something better and more stable. The turnover rate at these firms is huge and compensation is brutal early on. Its mostly an assembly line of subjective soft tissue bullshite, complicit chiropractors, orthopedists and "pain management" docs, and dependent-class clientele. Very few make it past the two year mark. If you make it beyond that you can earn if you can live with yourself (and your shitty clients). Most can't and move on.
