Watch NACE Corrosion 2024

It is slated for NOLA, if it moves in the next two years or so you will have a big indicator

I can’t mentally process that yet. I see a really hard road and a lot of small business ruin but I just can’t bring myself to believe they will let this nonsense go for another 6 months or so. It has to reopen after the election. Too late for many but I can’t bring myself to believe they will let it get that far. Of course, I said the same thing about today 3 months ago.

This is the part that I can't wrap my head around. I no longer can picture the endgame from Latoya's side. She still has a ton of support which is mind boggling. Nothing will change in the next 3 months so whatever milestone she is waiting for is much farther than that.

Maybe like TA said her dark money is controlling to allow them access to real estate, which isn't that far fetched.

I am really talking about keeping an eye on the 6 month, 1 year and 5 year plans/development

If a massive conference like NACE moves in the next two years then you have a big indication of how the investment cycles are going. I doubt they move it, just offering a suggestion to keep an eye on

NOLA competes with San Diego, Orlando, San Antonio, LV, NYC, Dallas, Miami for the big destination conventions. After Katrina outside money poured into NOLA and Fed Bailout dollars were a no brainer. Now it is a long list of cities with empty pockets and open hands. The outside money will be very judicious where they invest.

I agree with everything you posted. I just can’t bring myself to believe they will let this get to the next 6 month benchmark. In my mind, Nov 3 was always the worst case scenario for this madness and then the state would start pumping whatever it had into getting NOLA open and busy. Anything else is unthinkable.

If destroya is counting on Fed money to fix it then good luck

Need a business friendly mayor and Gov to really fix the problems

I see a lot of economic stagnation In NOLA as investors wait out the mayor and Gov to see what happens

Let me go on the record that I love NOLA, and I hope it comes back

Like you I go back religiously, especially at Christmas

Now I am not so sure we will be back anytime soon.

Why would you say this though? What has changed from what you come to NOLA for?

Superior Grill will still have their Thanksgiving thing

It has to be money. There is no other answer.

I'm just at a loss on what money. Fed money? Why risk the 50/50 (or likely less). Private money? Too easy to follow?

The great Democrat scheme conspiracy is too far fetched. So I don't follow that at all.

Not interested in spending the little disposable income I have on a city in the throes of disfunction

The sum of NOLA pre-COVID was worth the downside, now we don’t know what the sum is or will be. We are going to the mountains this year. The XMAS side trip to NOLA is not in the plans

But I still love the city, breaks my heart for those that live there and are suffering

New Orleans has always been functional in its own dysfunctional way.
Everyone knew the rules and how to play the game. Toya just slapped her hands down on the board and screamed, Game Over. Investors don’t know what to do with that kind of crazy.

Yeah, if anything the city thrives on disfunction. It's what attracts those back to the city.

I get being scared to come into a city for the next bit. It's why people are leaving cities all over the country.

Exactly
I live in Houston burbs, nola is no different but some parts were protected and exempt

She is attacking the institutions of the city, that is really bad for recovery and what makes the city unique is being destroyed

thats fair - her decisions are arbitrary

i could maybe be more okay with this whole situation if she at least offered the data and the justifications for closing and opening of the city and the schools and etc

but she isnt being candid; she makes a choice, does not provide any evidence for that choice and we are all just expected to live with it
