I remember always being worried that the line would break and the plane would just fly off never to be seen again.

Those were so much fun. Had one of these bad boys. It was fun as hell but I remember being scared to start it so I got Dad to do it.
I remember my brother getting one like that for Christmas. He crashed it the first time he started it up. I was so jealous because I was too little to use it yet.

We had a blast with ours. Had a Dauntlass one, too. It was cool and had a bomb drop thing. We rigged up a M-80 and was going to drop it and all...guess what happened...

I remember many years ago - back in the '70s - my Grandfather had a beautiful control line biplane that he built sometime in the late '60s. I mean it was nice - I think it was a Pitts type. It was red and white and all. Never did get to see him fly it. I know he used to fly it a lot in competitions and all, but I never got to see him fly it. I don't know what happened to that thing, though. I think the last time I saw it I was maybe around 10. I do know that he put it in storage - but I had long forgotten about it. After he passed, I found some pictures of it and asked my Grandmother where it was. It seems that my bitch of an aunt took a lot of his stuff that we were supposed to get (she did the same after my Grandmother passed, too).
Man that was a beautiful airplane. Of course I never would have flown it, but it would have had a nice home in my model room!

the sight of your model rocket you spent your allowance on and spent days building either the chute misfiring and plummeting to the earth into a million pieces or a gust of wind carrying it a mile off its path.
That's where I learned patience.
Kids these days just don't understand what real patience is.

Oh man I know how you feel. Never have done the model rocket thing but I always wished I could have gotten one. I think my son would like to see one, so maybe will put that on the list. Thanks, mj2!

I always wanted one of those but my grandmother was afraid I'd cut my fingers off so I never got one.

Lawn Darts anyone?
I threw one a little to hard once, went over the fence and hit the neighbors dog "Precious" in the hind quarter. Damn dog limped around for a month but it turned out okay.

I had this toy in the late 60's.It was like a hot plate with little molds to make fangs, bats, scars and such.
I burnt myself so many times.

Pixie Stix and a whole range of candy that you don't see much any more
I also remember those models you used to build where you would use those little square jars of paint (a zillion colors). I never did wait long enough for the paint/glue to dry before adding more pieces. All my stuff ended up lopsided as a result.
Creepy crawlers, old school, not the newer cheaper stuff, also Lite Brite, and the spinning thing where you had a card that spun around and you could drop paint on it to make tie-dyed type "art"
