A lady that does some work for me has a car that keeps blowing the cruise control mini fuse. I was fricking with it yesterday afternoon, and I found that the cruise control worked great with the ac off, but it would blow the fuse whenever you turned the ac on.
For some reason, GM put the orifice tube assembly thing-a-ma-bob on the same circuit as the cruise control, and it is shorting internally.
The correct fix would be to change the assembly, pull a vacuum, and charge the system, which is what she will need to do, but I am curious about some things.
First, why the frick does an orifice tube have a fricking electrical plug? What is the computer reading, doing, etc?
Second, what would it hurt to unplug this bitch, if both the ac and cruise work fine with it unplugged, until she is able to get it repaired?
I'm just a little fricked up, bc I've never seen an orifice tube assembly/expansion valve assembly (or whatever the frick it's called) that had an electrical connection. In my day, the orifice tube just changed pressure and filtered.
Tia.

I believe that would be a low pressure cutoff switch.

Either hi or lo pressure switch. Unplug it and see if it works. You don’t need them to function the ac. It is a safety primarily.

The part number came back as an "orifice tube."
I'll find a picture.
Eta:
This may not be the same part # as her's, but the assembly looks identical.
And that fricking plug is on the 10 amp mini fuse for the cruise control.
