The truthful answer is no. There is no magic drug that will stop this immediatley other than sedation but it's going to be tough to get any doctor to go down that road.

Absofrickinglutely. There is not cure all for anxiety. But...vitamin D helps mood and too little testosterone can really affect you anxiety in that it makes it harder to cope with things. Coping skills and enjoyment are really diminished. If your total is good and your free is low the check your SBGH. If its high that will surpress your free T. Also check your estrogen. If its way to high then you will be extra anxious as well as offsoffsetting any Testosterone positives.

Thanks yat I appreciate the advice. We will continue with a second opinion because doing lying is not really an option

Yeah, a second opinion is a good idea. I will say that from what you're describing it's going to always be tough on your family. Make sure you and especially your mom always have a support system that doesn't include your brother. It's ok to not like him or the things he does sometimes. That doesn't mean you don't love him. I wish I could be more helpful but cases like his require total involvement to get the big picture.

Total is all that was check and all other hormones (including estrogen) were normal. Appt with gyn in a couple of weeks. This scares the crap out of me. Thanks --- hope she's willing to do something. This was caught while doing a battery of cardiac tests at a prevention center (mom has cardiac history and I run so I wanted to make sure that was ok).

You're in Nola, right? Are you using insurance or Medicaid?

He has medicare since he gets some disability but were not against private practice if the medicare options are subpar. In Nola
Also i'll try to update the exact medications hes on later just to see if you think anything looks out of sort.

The first phone call you should make is to the LSU Behavioral Sciences Center and explain your situation and see who they have there that specializes in mood disorders/panic disorders. Your brother's history will be key so tell them everything.

The Valium thing posted in your OP makes me think he's getting lazy treatment from his current doctor.

Trileptal 600 mg/day for seizure maintenance
Clomipramine(Anafeanil) 25mg/day OCD
Fluvoxamine(Luvox)100mg/day Anxiety
Diazapam 5g/3 times a day Anxiety

Well, that's all pretty normal drugs for what you'r describing but I don't like that valium thrown in there at the end. That's just overkill. Didn't you say earlier that y'all have trouble getting him to take his meds?

No hes fine taking his meds every morning. Its once he goes into a rage type event that he will refuse to take an additional valume. Usually after taking a valume within 30 minutes he will calm down.

This is so interesting. I wonder if his brain is "acting out" so to speak because it knows the serotonin levels need to be leveled off at a certain point in the day and the Valium aides in that. Almost like he's been groomed by his own brain to need that extras boost in the afternoon. I'd really suggest trying to get an appointment at LSU. They are always up to date with their research.

Is the LSU hospital unit in New Orleans or BR? Also the reason he won't take the meds during the rage is because he goes on rants about how unhappy he is and just wants to die(Not because he he really wants to but because he knows he is being a burden and cant help it), medicine does not work, does not want to be a drugged up zombie etc. Its like a completely different person. I handle these things just fine but it scares the hell out of my mom.
