Yours is interesting. Maybe you need to do some feldenkrais.

Since you had no trauma, its either emotional, or postural.

I have the exact same thing. Thought it was a p cyst because i had one 27 years ago.

Seeing a chiropractor for another thing, hoping they might also be able to do something about that. I havent really tried anything else other than pain management and better posture so far.

Don't get caught up in the why? It could be many things. The inflammation on MRI just localizes the problem to the cocyx itself. Injections would be a possible next step. Don't be afraid to ask the doc for them or to discuss it. It is not a very common problem so the ortho might not treat it a lot. I would image it would need to be injected with ultrasound or X-ray assistance. I would avoid the surgery until you have tried all other options. Its not commonly done, has risks, and may not make you better.

Go see a doctor. It might be a polynidal cyst. I had one form about 25 years ago. There is some pain and it itches when there is discharge. It does not smell good either. I had surgery. It helped for some time but it reformed and had surgery again. It seemed to reform to an extent again but doc told me that as long as it drains, don't do surgery again. It hasn't bothered me for years. I guess it finally healed. If that is what it is repost and I'll let you know what to do for prep surgery if it goes in that direction.
