For those that don't know Southwestern Louisiana Institute at Lafayette is one of the many incarnations of UL Lafayette. They change their name about every 25 years.

The issue of Iran obtaining spare parts was a genuine concern.

"Since December 1984, the FBI said, federal investigators have intercepted over a dozen cartons containing hundreds of pounds and over two dozen parts for the F-14 Tomcat."

When I was living in Va Beach, there was a sailor charged with stealing an F-14 flight computer. The Navy and its investigators wasted no efforts in its search for the suspect(s) and the part. It was later found at the bottom of a nearby pond. The story got a lot of attention at that time and this was before the shutdown of parts to Iran.
