The barking is what concerns me if it's not normal for him. I had a boxer that started barking a lot around the same age and he was never a barker. He appeared to be in good health too even when he keeled over and died in front of me right before 13. If he has to make any type of jump to get to his outside bed, maybe he can't jump that high anymore or it hurts.

What I would start to look for is pottying in the house and/or him walking around in the house like he's lost. Like it's time for him to go out but he walks in a different direction than where he knows the door is. Mine was an indoor dog though but when mine needed to go to the bathroom his last few months, he might walk the opposite way of outside then piss in the floor. He would spend days outside when the weather was nice so was used to outside. I'm thinking yours wants to stay in b/c he's sensing some changes in his body due to age and maybe wants you to notice.
