I've heard netgear has a wifi box that picks up ATT signal around rigs so that you can hotspot your phone for text messages and such.

Anyone know if the service plan can be a pre-paid plan or do you need a special plan with data from ATT? Some guys said to buy a ipad type of sim, but I can't find anything other than a regular 4g/5g LTE sim.

ATT also sells a turbo hotspot that I assume is the same but the guys I talked to swear by the netgear one (MR1100 I tihnk).

Anyone have the full scoop?

Man, if you could maybe find out what they’re set up is, I’d really appreciate it.

I bought the "refurbished" 5G Netgear box for $175 from Amazon. The battery was shot so I bought a new battery for another $20. Amazon

Also, you'll have to buy a SIM card from ATT. Get the 5G because it's so much faster.

Since I don't have ATT service, I signed up for data only for $65/month and carry it with me when I have to go up into the piney woods of north La. where I get no T-mobile bars.

I can run my laptop and a streaming Roku TV off it. I also will carry it in my car so that I can listen to podcasts when I go through T-Mobile dead spots traveling.

I'm thinking you'd be good to go if you get any kind of ATT signal on the rig.
