Can I get some advice on Octoberfest? How long should I plan on staying in Germany when I go? Does the OT recommend a travel agent or should I plan it on my own?

Any other advice or info would be greatly appreciated

It starts September 19th. I'm looking for info on hotels, tickes, and things like that. I knew the OT was the place to go.

I stayed two nights and that was plenty for me. It's a fun but it's really just a big carnival. You can only eat so much chicken and fish on a stick with liter beers. Plenty else to see and do in Germany and Europe.

Oh, and avoid the weekends.

this.

i went for an afternoon for the experience but that's all i needed.

to the OP, if you fly into stuttgart be sure to visit the canstatter volksfest, which is stuttgart's version of oktoberfest. it's at the same time as munich oktoberfest but more low key and of course with different breweries. plus people from bw are nicer than bavarians, at least in my experience. i may be biased because i lived in tuebingen for school and only spent a month in munich.

also, german girls will not be interested in you. but be sure to ask them if they'd like to see your stamp collection anyway (classic pick-up line). oh, and eat lots of doener kebabs. they're cheap and delicious.
