Going to NYC for New Years. Neither of us have ever been.
Where should we stay- things that are musts to do?

Where to stay: The Blakely, 136 W. 55th
Must-sees on a short visit: Central Park, MOMA, both just a block or two from the Blakely.

Midtown. The New York Palace is great. The Hudson too. Really just any 4 star hotel in midtown.

Honestly- go to a bar. Pay $100/head for open bar. Get shitfaced and take a car service home. You will not find a taxi on the street. Subways will be filled to capacity and you will be waiting for a very longtime. This will end very poorly if you don't plan this out. Feel free to ask me how I know.

DO NOT GO TO TIMES SQUARE.
-No booze
-No movement in or out
-No bathrooms
-You have to get there hours beforehand, possibly in snowing weather or subzero temperatures.

It's not worth it. Just go to a nice bar.

It actually is. This isn't the 1970's.
