Something like that. ... Thanks, but I'm only knowledgeable about what I know.

Delaware with 16 when there's like 100 people in the entire state

I think Delaware is the only state where you can still be hanged if you so choose. They're pretty liberal on their death penalty policy.

Illinois should be much higher.

They've exonerated more death row inmates than they've executed. That's one state we shouldn't trust with capital punishment.

West Virginia at 0 is the most surprising imo.

They prefer that the owner of the raped/murdered sheep shoot the offender on sight. Rough justice.

That's great. # could be much larger. Only 13% of persons receiving a death penalty have actually been executed.

That means 9923 people received the death penalty.

Texas doesn't play when it comes to the death penalty.

Certainly stopped crime in Texas?

Micah Johnson must not have been aware if these stats .

Surely you understand the death penalty is not only about deterrence. The literal number of people it does stop from committing capital murder will never be known. People aren't readily going to admit they've seriously thought about killing someone, but stopped short because of the possibility of being executed, but without a doubt, it plays a part in some individuals' decisions to follow through or not. The death penalty is more about punishing those who do not heed that warning nor care about consequences, as it should be.
