Not sure if it's the same thing but LSP requires bars to have cameras recording poker machines

If any of y’all like Podcasts go listen to “Eye in the sky” by Radiolab on June 15,2015. Great episode and exactly what NOLA needs
They basically took pictures over a crime filled city 24/7 with a plane, or maybe a drone, and when a crime was reported they could stitch the pictures together and go back in time to see where the perp came from. It had a ridiculous success rate. Not only did it catch the criminals but the criminals led them back to other criminals
Just have to be ok with the invasion of privacy

I saw a license plate reader getting installed on Harrison right past the bridge over the canal. Will actually probably help ID the vehicles used in pulling those car burglaries every night if they put one on West End and Canal too.

They don't have enough cops to send everytime they see something. No one wants to work for NOPD. Pretty sure they are under staffed. Anyone have numbers?

Pretty sweet for a website that constantly bitches about Nola crime to hate on this, like it will make it any worse? It’s more cameras in areas we all frequent, whats the problem?

I know right. People bitch about how the city has to address crime and they just threw $5mm on a real time monitoring center and it’s still not enough.
I’m a very vocal critic of this administration and City, but I’ve aleays given the NOPD credit. They can only do so much. I think this will be a good thing.
I’m going to register my cameras in this system just as they are registered with PROJECT NOLA, which honestly is the reason this center was created.

if anything, spreading the word that there are cameras everywhere across the city will deter people from criminal behavior
so even if the system doesnt function efficiently, in theory, fewer people will commit crimes

Mighty expensive bar towel drying rack. Should have towels dry quicker though if they are controllable cameras/racks.
