So sad for Eunice and the area. Such a big loss for downtown.

Nick's on 2nd in Eunice burns down - KLFY

quote:

EUNICE, La. (KLFY)– Nick’s on 2nd, a longtime favorite restaurant in Eunice, caught on fire Saturday afternoon; some residents said this was a major loss for the community.

Firefighters spent hours putting out a fire that residents said started around 11 a.m. No one was inside at the time of the fire.

David Manuel, a resident of Eunice, owns a hair salon just a block from the restaurant. He said it is devastating for the community, and the owners who worked day and night to keep it going.

Did KBON sustain damage? Lots of cool old stuff in there.

Not that I have heard- could be some smoke damage, but fortunately I think the public walkthru separates the two structures, so that should help some.

Word is that the old bar and the stained glass window survived.

Don’t believe so.

On Saturday afternoon as the fire was growing, Phil Daigle had to abandon the studio. He put the music on “autopilot”, though it stopped at some point, at least on the app.

However, they were back in the studio live on Sunday.

Bummer for Nick’s, though.

Bar side and restaurant looked like it survived but naturally sustained water and smoke damage. Hall side is a total loss. Word is that some of the kitchen equipment was salvageable.
