Recently, a tree from my yard fell into my neighbor's. Took out a section of the fence he built and some minor damage to his tree.

I apologized and had a tree service out within 3-4 hours. Offered money for fence and any yard repairs. Apologized again.

He charged me 20 bucks for material and repairs the fence himself.

Go talk to your neighbor. It is unAmerician not too. Don't look to the government/law to solve a problem.

This. I assume it is a wooden fence. I'm the exact opposite of handy and this can be done pretty easily
