Damn man, really sorry to hear that. Dogs are a wonderful part of the family and its so sad to see them go ... especially so unexpected. :(

Will be interested to see what PetSmart has to say .... keep this thread updated with their reaction please.

Jasmine had some bad hip / spine damage. She struggled mightily to try and walk but her legs just wouldn't support her. Doc said it appeared to be something consistent with falling / jumping off of a table and landing badly. it would have been "a long road back" for her at best. We'll definitely be at that store the moment that they open tomorrow morning.

My mom brought my dog to Petsmart one day to get washed and his nails did. Evidently they cut his nails so bad, he was bleeding and started attacking everyone. If his nails were a person's fingers, they were cut to the first knuckle away from your hand. They called for my mom to pick him up, and when she got there, he came within a foot of gnawing her leg off. He came to his senses and they had to clear the front of the store out because he was going after everyone.

I was doing something else for a month, so she didn't tell me about it. She didn't say anything for another 3 years. Had I been there, I would've destroyed some mother frickers. It still angers me now.

Moral of the story is don't bring your dog anywhere to get washed and nails clipped. My lab doesn't need to be bathed. He's had 5 baths in his 8 years. Two were for fleas and one was when he got maced. He smells like dog shampoo when he gets out of the water

Sad story OP. Accidents obviously can happen, but the fact that they tried to cover it up seems pretty questionable. I would be livid.

This is why I avoid national chain pet stores for grooming. They're basically the Great Clips of dog grooming. Pay is low and I would assume experience is as well.

Those stores are covered with surveillance cameras. Shouldn't be too hard to determine what happened.

Also - if the dog did jump / fall from the table....they are assholes for not getting the dog aid. Does that Petsmart have a Banfield vet inside of it?

They must have a bunch of idiots working in that industry because my wife is always showing me horror stories from vets to groomers , hell they had 5 dogs die in this vets care in the last year at one near my home from just being sheltered to going in for teeth cleaning , the latest was they took a dog outside to do his thing and he got away and ran into traffic ...

I'm not lawsuit happy, but they would be getting the ever living frick sued out of them if that happened to my dog.

This one did and I grabbed someone from there as soon as I saw what was happening. One of my questions is did anyone from grooming get them when they saw that she was having issues? We've already got medical records and statements together. The groomer that worked on her wasn't there when I arrived, so I definitely want some words with her...if for no other reason, to find out why she didn't call to inform me that there was a problem with her. She called to say that Jasmine was ready to be picked up but sad nothing on the phone about her having trouble. We didn't learn anything until they tried to bring her out. In retrospect, I should have done more or gotten in more people's faces then but at the time, my worry was trying to get her out of there and getting her looked at.
