There are plenty of good companies to work for in the Capital Region: companies that provide a decent paycheck and basic benefits. And there are also a lot of great companies to work for: companies that go a step further with additional fringe benefits, company events and flexible work schedules.

But it takes a lot more than good salaries, solid benefits packages and the occasional casual Friday to be one of the Capital Region’s Best Places to Work—especially in a world where employees have more leverage and are demanding a better work-life balance. Companies on the ninth annual list go above and beyond to put their employees first. That’s because they know that if their employees are happy and engaged on the job, then they’ll take ownership of their work and protect the brand—and bottom line. Important qualities in a job market that’s becoming tighter and with employees more willing to change jobs.

If you’re lucky enough to be an employee of one of the Best Places to Work, you work hard and you play hard. And while tickets to sporting events, crawfish boils and holiday parties remain popular, workers also want remote work options, access to mental health, mentorship opportunities and time off to volunteer in the community.

Sadly, one of the companies (IEM) moved their HQ from Louisiana to North Carolina but still has an office locally - IMO that should potentially disqualify them automatically.

The Pangburn Group is actually based up in New Roads and doesn't have an office in Baton Rouge. But I guess that area counts for Baton Rouge metro and they probably hire a lot of folks from Baton Rouge so that's less controversial.

A little skeptical that Exxon or any of the massive blue collar employers in the area that are known to offer excellent benefits are not included, at least in the top 3.

Also some of them are non-profits, which typically don't offer very competitive compensation. But it guess they survey well with employees.

Interestingly enough - A handful of them have group photos with almost all if not exclusively white employees. Keep in mind that African Americans represent about 30% of the population of Louisiana, and Hispanics are about 7%.

So strange that Billy Bob's stump grinding and tire service isn't listed. That's the pride of Livingston Parish!

And where is Southern University? You don't even have to actually work to collect a check there.

We made the top 10. My company hangs their hat on it. I don’t know how they decide. I couldn’t care less. Figure it’s just like everything else…the more ad money you give Rolfe, the higher you go. Like 225 Mag.
Other thing is, how can anyone vote on a business unless they worked there?

But you’re helping the disadvantaged!! Your $45k salary is more valuable!

If they found people who get satisfaction form that work, then good for them. But for most people, working is as much about compensation as it is a sense of accomplishment -maybe even more so.

That MAPP company offers a "month long sabbatical after 7.5 years". That's a great opportunity to unwind on a long road trip or vacation abroad.
