I wouldn't care if every single gator was raised on a farm somewhere for the remainder of humanity. it's not like they are pandas and have trouble reproducing
But they must have evolved to not attack humans (often) because a gator like that and much smaller or in groups of 2 or more could easily swamp a kayak or canoe

think about what gators typically eat (fish, turtles, small birds, etc)
you really think they want to frick with a 6-foot long, 200 lb animal? i mean that generally

they will attack a kayaker if it's a mama with little ones around
