Often times the "breaks" are actually transferable credits which are literal subsidies but in this case it's not even that.

Nope.

If true, then I disagree with this. Time will tell if it's a worthwhile investment for Mississippi, but direct payments usually are not. I oppose any direct payments in this way and only support tax breaks as incentives.

I’m against these types of transactions where the government gives money to businesses, but in an age where we are just writing checks to people and companies for doing nothing, at least there is a return on this.

It’s creating jobs.

Okay. I disagree with this.

LINK .

"Milwaukee Tool said it will expand its United States manufacturing footprint with a plant in Mississippi that will create 800 jobs backed by a $26 million grant from the state of Mississippi."

You have no standards. Let's pay China or Iran to set up a hacker and spy surveillance hub here. They will hire people. What is it that you think China really does? They are incredibly bad actors in the world, with really terrible intentions.

How many of those announcements did Piyush Jindal make? I'll be checking in on those listings.

When is the last time JBE got to make an announcement like this for LA?

The Gron Fuels deal and the Amazon Cortana deal, both announced in the last few months are both bigger than this deal is...

I mean your larger point is accurate. It's embarrassing how few jobs and businesses he's been able to recruit to LA. This is a drop in the bucket though, you need alot more deals like this to start seeing significant impact. Let's not act like Mississippi is some mecca of commerce all of a sudden.

I said I was against it.

But that $25 million was going somewhere. It wasn't going back to taxpayers.

Ole Tater in Mississippi has overseen legalization of sports gambling, new casinos on the coast, legalization of medical marijuana, and a nice Milwaukee Tool plan bringing 1,200 jobs.

Mississippi is so far ahead of Louisiana now. Just think about that. They will be coasting in 10 years (Jackson aside) while our state continues to implode.
