Colored snot does not mean there is an infection...

Previous poster hit the nail on the head...treat the symptoms that are bothering you with OTC meds for that symptoms. Pseudoephedrine from behind the counter is the only really effective decongestant. Use it carefully if at all if you have heart disease or high blood pressure.

Afrin decongestant can open you up effectively but you cannot use it for more than two or three days. This is important...it's very easy to become dependent on it to breath after only a couple of days...then you are hooked on it.

You can consider buying a NeilMed sinus irrigation kit (or neti pot). Saline irrigations can be effective at clearing snot and relieving congestion.

If you are running any temps (say 100.4 or above) go to the MD and get tested for flu and stay home.

IF you have a cold remember symptoms can last a couple weeks. If symptoms persist for 3 weeks you should see an MD....

Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and a teaspoon of raw honey in 8 oz. of warm water did the trick for me. Din't think it would help but it did. Now I take that shite in the morning and at night everyday.

I have been fighting a head cold since Christmas and can’t completely shake it. I haven’t found the right combo yet. I have tried Alka Seltzer plus, NyQuil and nothing has knocked it completely. I don’t feel bad at all just can’t get rid of the congestion. Of course this crazy arse weather isn’t helping either.
