I still know the number of the farm from the 50's but can not remember my current cell. See what I mean, tech has numbed our basic human survival skills.

Grats on old school map usage. They used to print them at the factory a few miles down the road from Keeneland. Some people swear by the Bible but Rand McNally was my guru!

Well that’s a problem. Now I need to rethink my whole approach.

I will defer to the voice of experience.

I ran out of gas 3 times in it, each time I just called either local law enforcement or state troopers for a ride to the nearest gas station
I ran out of gas one time and that thought never crossed my mind.

The gas gauge showed a quarter tank when I called my friend whose car I was driving, he told me the gauge was broken. That would've been nice to know beforehand.

I told him where to find his car and walked back to the bar.

I think most people were, even some now that are not. After the 70's oil shocks I swear we lost our sense of direction and our sense of humor.

Frisco cops wouldn’t know what to do if some kid called them bc they ran out of gas
guarantee they would get a unit there if it was on the interstate and your son said sure would be a shame if a pedestrian was hit by a car on y’all highway

Oh, if it was on the tollway or 121 (only major highways in Frisco), then the tollway roadside assistance would handle it quickly. My loaner car died once and they were there within 2 minutes and I didn’t even call them. But not Frisco PD. They only have 2 cops handling school zones every day and that’s for all the schools.

Duct tape = old school

Zip ties = new school

Probably an age bias on which is preferred. Tho hard to beat baling wire and duct tape as you could fix your car with them too.

The last time I emailed the police chief and city, we got a traffic light at the 45 mph 4 lane road for the middle school. Of course, a kid was hit there the next day.

Just scrapes and bruises for being knocked off his bike. In a pedestrian crosswalk. I immediately pulled up my email from the previous day and replied all with a pic of his mangled bike.

A week later. Right after I replied to their email telling them I was providing the parents of that child with copies of my emails to them warning them of the danger before it happened.
