A friend in the Corp is looking at that path. What kind of contract (term of enlistment) is required if he were to complete training. TIA

He has what we call good initiative, bad judgment.

Really great pathway for a young man to follow, that isn't strong enough to join Army, Air Force, or Navy special forces/tactics.

It is a lot easier than those listed above, just as important though.

No. 1371. MARSOC officer looked him up because of his PFT and CFT scores, 300's.

So he hasn't even been to infantry school yet

PT is just part of the battle, being a PT stud only gets you so far.

You will need to change his name from Runt to BAMF

Dudes got a long way to go to ever becoming a MARSOC operator if hes never been to infantry school, unless he is being contact about being part of the support units.

I think he has 2 years before he's even eligible to enter the selection process. Just wondered what kind of enlistment would be required.

Gotcha, in general for the military when you change careers you need the retainability. Which means extending your current enlistment or re-enlisting. If you wash out and don't make it you are sent back to your old career and are basically stuck doing a job you don't like for four more years.

Sounds about right. I just wonder how many years he'd have to commit to before they'd let him enter training.

To the OP: If you're buddy can hack it, he needs to do it. SOF is the way to go. I was never in SOF (Red/Green color bind) but if they'd let me, I'd tried out instantly. The buddies I have that did it love it. All the fun toys, a little less BS than regular forces, but a lot more rotations downrange.

Good luck to your friend.

You don't have to be infantry to go MARSOC unless something has changed.

They'll probably ask for 4. I think that's standard.

Wasn't the standard you had to be recon before hand or was that only when they grandfathered people in.

Being a MARSOC operator with out infantry/recon skills would put you behind the eight ball big time.

O and I finished my 1C4 package only for there to be no more class spots the last two months
