re: Mardis Gras Lafayette route is dumb

Yes they do, that section is basically the little strip of the hood that the parade goes through, crosses the Thruway, then heads downtown. I doubt it was a crappy part of town way back then, but it is now.

It's ridiculous that they'll block a major highway through town, but I'm assuming they're worried changing the route to not start/cross there would be called racist.


ETA: The route for reference. There's probably plenty enough room to line everything up along Garfield/E Vermillion. Then at the start take Cypress, then a left on 3rd St.
