Why the frick didn’t the tase the shite out of him?

they did... you can see the taser wire draped off his body at 1 point when he turns his back to the camera

some people... esp. those who are on some of the heavy drugs... are essentially impervious to the effects of the tazer... it really is the damnedest thing

What happened to the use of nets that the police used to use against violent people? It seems counter-productive for five cops to take on an unarmed, big, mentally ill man.

He wasn't in control of his emotions and the cops weren't in control of their adrenaline. A net deescalates the situation for everyone.

How so? I'm not defending the guy's actions, but he's not armed. Is resisting arrest grounds for using lethal force? If so, a lot of drunk college kids would be in the obituary column on a daily basis. All I see is a fat crazy guy throwing air balls at a bunch of physically inept cops.

I don't understand how, in this day and time, cops don't have an effective way of taking down a person like this without putting themselves in harms way or using lethal force. Tasers are normally effective, but I've seen too many cases where tasers didn't get it done. But some dweeb scientist can put an elephant down with a tranquilizer dart all day long.

Exactly! Boudreaux with his 12 foot cast net could have controlled him well enough to get him cuffed. But seriously, I remember seeing where they invented a net gun that fired a sticky net for this purpose. Don't know what happened to that, but looked very effective.
