quote:Yeah, this was definitely not a run-of-the-mill event (just for those saying the earthquake is NBD--this post is not a comment about global warming, just that it's significant in our lifetimes).
At this magnitude, though? No way.
The most powerful earthquake to hit Mexico in 100 years

MEXICO CITY — The most powerful earthquake to hit Mexico in 100 years struck off the nation’s Pacific Coast late Thursday, rattling millions of residents in Mexico City with its violent tremors, killing at least 32 people and leveling some areas in the southern part of the country, closer to the quake’s epicenter.
About 50 million people across Mexico felt the earthquake, which had a magnitude of 8.2, the government said. In the capital, the force of the temblor sent residents of the megacity fleeing into the streets at midnight, shaken by alarms blaring over loudspeakers and a full minute of tremors. Windows broke, walls collapsed, and the city seemed to convulse in terrifying waves; the quake even rocked the city’s Angel of Independence monument.

Every 100 years is run of the mill when you're talking about weather.

Earthquakes aren't weather...

Oh yeah, definitely. I wasn't talking about global warming or any of that. I guess I was just saying for those who think it's NBD it's actually significant and did a lot of damage. Not that it can't be explained by normal weather/earth activity.

It's a shame that some douches can't keep their crap on the political board.
Oh poor guy, must be tough for you to read a sentence.
You know this is going to be politicized just as much as every tragedy.
It's just what comes with this stuff now.
