When I switched from 1st base to catcher, dad said a left handed catchers mit was too expensive.

Also will never forget playing another all black team we played and were beating them something like 18-0.
A guy on our team popped one up to right field and it was an easy one to catch, he was under it and the ball just dropped right beside him. The catcher ( the only one that cared *and black) stood on top of the plate and yelled as loud as he could "CATCH THE BALL N88888)

Yep. Left handed catcher with a regular glove.
Dad even made me learn golf right handed because the clubs were cheaper. Smh
I don't think our Dixie league was anything but crackers, though. #sheltered.
ETA: so much for going to NOLA early this am. I gotta go somewhere to avoid the damn honey do list.
