I used to enjoy ARCA races until NASCAR bought them out

I feel like the CARS tour has done a pretty good job taking its place. I enjoy watching their races on FLO.

Andrea de Cesaris had a long career, not because he was a great driver, but because his father controlled five million dollars worth of Marlboro sponsorship money.
His nickname in some circles was "de Crasheris"

Is the ASA still a thing?
Posted on 12/19/24 at 3:30 pm to North Dallas Tiger
Mostly Midwestern based, minor league NASCAR. Very similar rules, I think.

ASA was another Midwestern circuit, with different rules. Schrader, Wallace, Kulwicki, and others came out of there.

Do those series race on road tracks as well or is it all oval racing?
Posted on 12/19/24 at 3:38 pm to North Dallas Tiger
ASA raced on ovals large and small, I believe on a road course or two, and even on dirt.
ARCA was mostly, if not all, ovals. A lot of NASCAR teams entered ARCA races to get seasoning for their up-and-coming drivers.

It is.
They run New Smyrna, Five Flags, Hickory, and the Fairgrounds as well as that Mid-West Circuit.

Cool. I enjoyed watching them back in the day. Between ESPN and the Nashville Network, you could watch a ton of racing, of all types.

Look up Keke Rosberg videos if you want to see some entertaining driving. He could drive the wheels off a F1 car. Keke was the better driver but was the F1 equivalent to Jimmy Spencer (Mr. Excitement) in NASCAR.

Yeah, pretty much have to have FLO to watch the smaller series now. I get a ton of races on there, but not ASA. I think they have their own service they stream on, not really sure. With FLO though I get Dirt racing, CARS, Nascar Home Tracks, and some ARCA.
