I doubt it, Skills. Even in my drinking days I didn't knock back a bunch of Dewars on the rocks when I had client meetings or court the next day - and I have a meeting tomorrow.
Also, I think one of the reasons why I was invited to this reception is that the hostess wants to introduce me to a friend of hers. I'm open to the idea, but the person will need to knock my socks off for me to be interested. It could happen, but I doubt it.

i love my daily cocktails, but I’m no longer wild so I have zero desire to overindulge.

Seriously though I was so disgusted by the organization the banquet is for once I did some research on my own.
Teen Challenge is the organization. Christian rehab thing for adults and children. Shady AF. Many many reports of abuse from people that were in the program, questionable finances. Using kids as free labor and making parents sign waivers to allow them to discipline the kids any way they wish.
I was totally getting brainwashed vibes all night. Something just didn’t sit right at all. The supposed graduates just kept parroting the same phrases.

I smell your cookin'. If I could have one or two, I'd do it. I simply do not have an "off" switch when it comes to Dewars.
Have a good evening with Aubry, Skillet. I'm out.

Hey Tnurse!
abt that teen challenge thing...

was it a fundraiser type thing?

Yes it was a banquet. Where they had a presentation and their choir and asked for donations the entire night.
They would have their “graduates” come sit at each table talking about how the program saved their life, etc.
It was just the way they were telling their stories. Didn’t sit right. I was getting major Scientology type brainwashing vibes from the guys that spoke to us.

sounds a little handmaids tale-ish. like when the the HM's had to portray their role as "a blessing" when diplomats from other countries came to visit.

I also had to hear one guy at my table go off about why gay people can’t adopt children cause it’s evil and considered abuse and they will raise them to be for the devil.
At that point I had to bite my tongue and not just walk out.
I have good friends who are married lesbians who adopted a heavily abused child from foster care and gave her the best home. They also fostered numerous kids over a decade. The kids other fosters didn’t want and made it their mission to give them the most loving and safe temporary home they could.

I swear to all that is holy, these overcast, dark dreary days are abt to do me in.
I am so tired 24/7 when the sun doesn't come out.
it's 4:25 and I am still drinking coffee to stay awake.
