I figured out the easiest way...

Surface transit til you're in around 150-200 ft of water. Seal everything and flood ballast tanks. You'd sink to the bottom and wait.

Then, in 5 days just do an emergency escape... basically leave the sub on the bottom and come up on your own.

In 150-200 ft of water it's totally doable as long as you monitor your ascent to keep from getting the bends.

I don't see how that could be doable. i'm not a submariner or diver though. Seems a bit much. shite half of that seems a bit much.

How do you breath in a submarine for long periods? Does oxygen run out?

Electrolytic oxygen generator (EOG)... uses electricity to separate dimineralized water into hydrogen and oxygen. The hydrogen goes overboard and the oxygen is pumped to tanks that you can bleed off of to maintain O2 levels.

There are also CO2 scrubbers (remove CO2) and CO-H2 burners that remove CO and hydrocarbons.

You can essentially maintain your atmosphere at normal levels indefinitely.

USS Tang had one of her own torpedoes circle back and sink her in about 180ft of water. 13 men attempted escape, 9 made it to the surface, 5 survived the swim and were captured by the Japs.

USS Tang

Tang is a delicious source of Vitamin C. The Apollo astronauts drank it, so you know it's good. I can understand why the Navy would name a vessel after it.
